About Me
Yá’át’ééh, Shí éí Chad Bradley yinishyé. Tábąąhá nishłį́, Tódich'ii'nii bashishchiin, Kiyaa'áanii dashicheii, Kiyaa'áanii dashinalí.
I'm a member of the Navajo Nation, a federally-recognized sovereign Indigenous nation located in the United States Southwest. I'm originally from Mexican Springs, New Mexico, which is a small community on the Navajo Nation located about half an hour north of Gallup, New Mexico.
I'm a lifelong reader, writer and learner and I originally wanted to study English to become a novelist. I've always been interested by the history of my people and of the thousands of other Indigenous communities located in the U.S., Canada and other regions of the world. And the exploration of such history and longstanding issues has become the focus of my reporting. I believe in fair, ethical and respectful portrayal of Indigenous peoples within news and other media. For decades, Indigenous communities have been underrepresented in the modern news cycle and within newsrooms and I hope to improve such conditions in the newsrooms I become a part of.
When I'm not a journalist, I'm a huge fan of film, music and literature and have loved them all for as long as I can remember. Some of my fondest memories are of watching 80s and 90s action movies and almost every sci-fi movie ever with my dad, and have maintained that love of storytelling and exploration of human experience ever since. I'm a huge fan of Indie Alternative music often described as "sad music" from bands such as The Airborne Toxic Event, The National, Local Natives, Alvvays and hundreds of others; I'm always listening to something new, obscure and emotional.
